World Keratoconus Day / National Keratoconus Day 2017

November 10 is World Keratoconus Day

November 10 is World Keratoconus Day. Let's join together to recognize World KC Day and spread the word. This is our chance to raise awareness and hope.

Keratoconus (KC) is a degenerative condition of the eye in which the normally round, dome-shaped cornea becomes progressively thinner. this causes a cone-like bulge to develop in the area where the cornea is thinnest- usually in the center. KC occurs in about 1 out of every 2,000 people in the general population and it is found in all parts of the world and in all ethnic groups. If left untreated, KC could lead to significant visual impairment and legal blindness.

World Keratoconus Day is an awareness day sponsored by the National Keratoconus Foundation, an educational program of the Gavin Herbert Eye Institute, UC Irvine. make sure to visit NKCF's World KC Day website to add yourself to World KC Map, share your keratoconus selfies, and learn about their programs and activities.
